SA 8000 - SOCIAL ACCOUNTABILITY CERTIFICATION
The SA (Social Accountability) 8000 standard, an international
standard developed in 1997 by the American body SAI, contains nine social
requirements aimed at increasing the competitive capacity of those
organizations that voluntarily provide guarantees of ethics in their production
chain and production cycle. This guarantee is expressed in the assessment of
conformity of the social responsibility system implemented by an organization
with the requirements of the SA8000 standard visible through the certification
issued by an independent third party with a mechanism similar to that used for
quality management systems according to the UNI EN ISO 9000 series or
environmental management standards according to UNI EN ISO 14000 series.
